Roe is focusing more on teacher training than the other principals. First grade teachers are working with the 'Sing, Spell, Read and Write' program, which is a phonics-based program.

Second grade will train in 'Early Literacy Learning in Arkansas' (ELLA). McRat, (Multicultural Reading And Thinking) is the training program third grade teachers will go through this summer. Roe also requested after school tutoring be used more.

The board covered some of the proposed budget for next year. The new financial year starts at the end of June with the numbers from last year coming out by the next school board meeting.

Smithson told the board of damage to the cafeteria at the old high school facilities. Smithson and the board members discussed possible repairs and the time it's taking to get the property sold. The district decided to put a time limit on a possible buyer for information as to when the sale may go through. Twenty-five days from June 16 and before the next school board meeting there will be details on the funds for the purchase.
