Rainfall Over 2.25 Inches Below Normal in SeptemberPublished Wednesday, October 4, 1995 in the Nevada County PicayuneSeptember's rainfall total was 2.25 inches below what is normal for the ninth month of the year on average. According to John Teeter, local meteorologist, the normal rainfall for September is 4.58 inches, but only 2.33 inches of moisture fell during the month. The area is still down in rain for the year as well. Teeter's figures show the normal rainfall totals for the year through Sept. are 40.85. The actual amounts have been recorded at 30.32, which shows a deficit of 10.53 inches for the year. Rain fell only eight days during the month, with the single largest amount being .98 inches on Sept. 19. There were no weather watches or warnings issued during the month either. On the other hand, the temperature was down, which allowed for air conditioners to get a rest. The average temperature for the month was 73.9 degrees, 1.4 degrees below the normal temp of 75.3. The highest temperature recorded during the month was 100 degrees on Sept. 1. The low was 42 on Sept. 24. Low temperature records were set in many places in Arkansas, Teeter said, but non were broken in Nevada County. The low high temperature for the month was 66, recorded Sept. 22, was close to being a record low high.
