Published Wednesday, October 4, 1995 in the Nevada County Picayune

A 22-year-old Waterloo man has been charged with two counts of rape and two counts of incest, according to Nevada County Sheriff Harold Vines.

Vines said the suspect made his first appearance in court Monday and is being held in the Nevada County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

The incidents, Vines said, occurred about six months ago. He said the victim's mother called the Nevada County Sheriff's Office last week on the matter.

In other news, Vines said the NCSO, in conjunction with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, have made two arrests and solved three burglaries.

Randal Butcher, 30, and Richard Taylor, 24, were arrested in connection with a series of burglaries which occurred recently along the Nevada-Columbia County lines.

The pair are being held in the Columbia County Jail at this time, and are being arraigned on two counts of burglary, two counts of theft of property and two counts of theft by receiving.

Once they have been arraigned in Columbia County, Taylor and Butcher will be returned to Nevada County where Vines said they possibly face as many as three counts of burglary and theft of property each.

The arrest, he said, were the result of the two department's working together. Several items which had been stolen have been recovered.
