Basketball lovers will get going next week as the season opens in the area for schools without football teams.

The season will begin in November for schools with football teams.

While no major decisions can be made at this time which team is the most powerful, fans can look forward to some outstanding round ball action from Prescott, Nevada and other schools in the area.

Prescott and Nevada have new coaches. Robert Hall is the new girls coach at Nevada. Glyndon Franklin, athletic director and former girls coach, will be the new boys coach. Hal Landrith is the new boys coach at PHS while Cecily Butler remains as girls coach.

Frank Faulkner is the boys coach at Emmet. Cynthia Ward is coaching the junior girls.

At Blevins Michael Roosevelt House is the boys coach and Ken McAnally is the coach of the the girls teams.

Nevada is in the 7A South District, Emmet and Blevins are in the 7B South District and Prescott is in the 7AA Conference.

Emmet will get the season started next Monday with a trip to Delight for non-conference action. Next Tuesday night the Nevada teams will host McNeil in non-conference action, and Blevins will travel to Springhill for conference games.

Prescott will have its first game on November 7, when the teams will host Dierks.

Prescott's senior boys will not be fully organized as some team members may still be playing football.
