County's Cancer Society is InvolvedPublished Wednesday, October 11, 1995 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe recent success of the fundraisers in Nevada County totaled for the year, $14,123. Each year this much and more will be given back to Nevada County in services such as wigs, breast prothesis, patient education and many other resources and much guidance for you or your family member. Joan Barton is the local volunteer for the patient service program. She is taking the service chair from Max Hairston, who has done a great job for Nevada County until this time. Due to the advances in cancer research there are more people who are surviving the dreaded disease. Various patient service programs help educate and increase the quality of life of cancer patients. So, each year as Lanora Dalrymple heads up the fundraisers; the door to door campaign and the Cancer Society golf tournament, please remember these funds go to cancer research and a lot comes back to Nevada County in services. Also our Hee Haw Show headed up by Patsy Womble is a great fund raiser and many of Nevada County can "share their talents for a good cause!"
