Craft Booths Filling Fast for Festival

Over 80 arts and crafts booths have already been reserved for the 15th annual Gurdon Forest Festival, according to Freddie Horne, one of those in charge of the festival.

The festival will be held Saturday, October 28, on Main Street in Gurdon.

The Gurdon Community Development and Entertainment Club sponsors the event, which features an antique and classic car show, country and gospel bandstand shows, a big parade, two street dances and one of the best arts and crafts shows in the area.

Special events are held throughout the day. Some of these events include games, food, booths, rides drawings and the War Memorial Park Midway Show.

Special events coordinators are: antique car show, Terry Norris, 353- 2947; woodsman games, Tommy Potter, 353-2505; beauty pageant, Paul Shaver, 353-2609, Billy Wells, 353-4335; parade, Jerry Childers, 353-4609, Jo Ann Shaver, 353-4640; arts and crafts, food and entertainment, Freddie Horne, 353-2588.

Arts and crafts booths are $15 each. Registration for the car show is $10. The arts and crafts show and the car show, along with other events, are open free to the public.

The Believers, a gospel singing group from Sparkman, will open the bandstand shows Saturday morning at 9:30. The Hawkins Family from Hot Springs and the Heaven Bound Trio will follow, rounding out the morning entertainment.

The grand opening of the festival will be at noon. Special guest Stanley Crossley will `sing Elvis' Saturday afternoon at 2:30. The CD&E Club auction will be at 4:00 p.m.

The full card of events will be announced during the next two weeks.

Mark your calendars and make your plans to attend the 15th annual Gurdon Forest Festival Saturday, October 28, in downtown Gurdon. The festival is a project of the Gurdon CD&E Club.
