Here Are Other Games Of Interest From Last Week

There's no doubt about it now. The Curley Wolves are on top of the 7AA Conference -- all alone.

We were incorrect last week in stating it took three wins to make the state playoffs. It takes four. The Wolves have those four wins under their belt and are assured of making the playoffs. Now it's a matter of winning the conference to make sure we get the home field.

Last week there were two undefeated teams in the conference. Now there is only one. Prescott.

The 8-0 victory by the Wolves was made possible by the Prescott defense, as each offense tried again and again to put more points on the scoreboard. Each defense, along with a lot of mistakes and turnovers by the Wolves, prevented the game from turning into a scoring battle.

In the end it was Prescott's Big D holding the Yellowjackets to 19 total yards offensively.

The win boosted Prescott to a 6-0-1 record and 4-0 in the conference.

The win also moved the Wolves up from seventh to sixth position in the state in Class AA. Dollarway, with two losses, is number one. Stamps moved to seventh after being third last week. Nashville, also with two losses, is eighth.

Stamps, Gurdon and Nashville are all tied for second place in the 7AA Conference with 2-1 conference records. Overall Stamps is 5-1 and Gurdon and Nashville are 5-2.

Fordyce is 2-2 in the conference and 3-4 overall, while De Queen is 0-3 and 4-3 and Junction City is 0-4 and 1-6.

Last Friday Gurdon (Prescott's host next week) was upset by Horatio, 8-6, and Fordyce (Prescott's host on November 3) beat De Queen, 20-6. Hampton, Presoctt's homecoming guest this week, was defeated, 28-0, by Smackover.

This week will begin elimination of the playoffs by the rest of the conference teams with Stamps playing at Fordyce, Gurdon at Nashville and De Queen going to Junction City. Only three more weeks remain in the regular season.

In other games of interest to Prescott fans last week Bismarck beat Cutter Morning Star, 55-13; Fountain Lake was defeated by Beebe, 21-6; and Fouke was defeated by Foreman, 30-7. Bismarck, Fountain Lake and Fouke reportedly will be moving to Prescott's conference next year.

Bismarck is 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the 5A South Conference. The Lions are ranked fifth in the state in Class A. Fountain Lake is 5-2 and 2-2 in the 5AA Conference. Fouke is 3-4 overall and 3-1 in the 7A West Conference.

Lake Hamilton edged Hope, 24-20, Malvern took out Ashdown, 38-7, and Strong defeated Harmony Grove, 27-12. Surprisingly, Ashdown is 1-3 in the AAA Southwest Conference while Hope is 0-4. This week these two teams meet.
