Casey Purtle Earns ASU Scholarship

Casey L. Purtle of Emmet, a senior at Emmet High School, has accepted a president's scholarship to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro next fall. She plans to major in pre medicine/biology.

She is the daughter of Kirk and Pamela Johnson of Texarkana and Ricky and Faye Purtle of Hope.

The president's scholarship is offered to outstanding Arkansas high school seniors who score 26 through 29 on the American College Test (ACT). It is one of several programs ASU uses to reward and encourage academic achievement.

Recipients receive tuition and a double-occupancy room in one of ASU's residence halls. The award is renewable for up to four years.
