McGough Wins Election Run-OffPublished Wednesday, October 18, 1995 in the Nevada County PicayuneThere were 162 ballots cast in the Oct. 10 runoff election for the school board seat in zone 5. Of those ballots cast, Rick McGough received 115, while his opponent Ralph Harris got 47 votes. This broke down to a 71-29 percent win for McGough. In the September 19 election, there were 163 ballots cast with McGough getting the majority with 83. However, because he did not receive more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff was required.
