AHTD, County Open Bids for Road

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for a project to improve a Nevada County road, according to Highway Commissioner John "M" Lipton of Warren and Nevada County Judge John Barham.

The 3.6-mile project will install a base course to facilitate future paving on a section of County Road 23 southeast of Prescott. Spa Construction Co., Inc., of Hot Srpings was awarded a $122.000 contract for the work. The project is expected to be complete in late 1995.

Lipton noted that the project is funded through the State Aid Road Program established by the legislature and administered by the state aid division of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department. This program provides up to $13 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist counties with projects of their choosing on the county road system.

Lipton said construction could begin in six to eight weeks, weather permitting.
