Applications Needed Now for 1996-97

Students interested in applying for undergraduate college scholarships from the Potlatch Foundation for Higher Edlucation for the 1996/97 school year should begin the process now, the Foundation administrators announced. Scholarships are $1,400 per school year and renewable annually.

Foundation trustees select recipients based on character, personality, leadership qualities, scholastic achievement, ability and financial need. Applicants must either reside or attend a high school located within 30 miles of a major Potlatch facility. Additionally, applicants must be: 1) high school seniors; 2) undergraduate college students attending an accredited insititution; or 3) an adult applicant wishing to resume their education after a lapse of time.

It normally takes several weeks for students, schools and references to complete the application information. Applicants are urged to obtain forms and schedule ACT or SAT tests as early as possible to meet the foundation's deadline.

All scholarship application materials, including transcripts and official results from either ACT or SAT, must reach the Foundation in one complete package by February 15. Winners will be announced in May.

High school counselors in Potlatch operating areas will have supplies of applications. Applicants also may request packets from Potlatch Public Affairs offices or write the Potlatch Foundation for Higher Education, P.O. Box 193591, San Francisco, California 94119-3591. Each pakcet contains instructions, a descriptive brochure, application form and confidential report forms to be completed by the principal/counselor and references.
