However, by halftime, Dierks had posted a commanding 36-20 lead, and pulled to a 54-27 margin by the end of three. Problems at the charity stripe plagued the Wolverettes as they only connected on five of 18 shots from the free throw line. Dierks was 19-33 at the stripe. In their second game of the season, the Prescott crew manhandled the Lady Rattlers of Murfreesboro 49-25. Culpepper again paced the Wolverettes with 16 points, and had help from Christy Martin's 10. After a close first period, the Wolverettes pulled away and never looked back. Prescott jumped to a 13-8 lead after one and went to the lockers at halftime leading 31-12. It was mop-up duty by the time the fourth quarter began as Prescott led 43-17. Prescott Coach Cecily Butler said she pulled her starters after the first quarter, and made sure her bench got plenty of playing time in during both games. She said her bench did a good job in their outings. While the seniors split in their first two games, the junior Wolverettes have raced to a 2-0 start, with wins over Nashville and Murfreesboro. The junior squad slipped by Nashville 33-30 behind the scoring of Stacy Stockton, with 16, including a three pointer and seven free throws down the stretch. Nashville was led by Erly's 12. The Wolverettes led 9-7 at the end of one and were ahead 1-12 at the half. By the end of three, the Prescott crew held a slender 20-16 lead. Game two wasn't close -- or pretty. The Wolverette junior team obliterated Murfreesbro 39-4, with Butler clearing her benches early to get her girls plenty of minutes on the court. Traci Graham was the high scorer in the contest with 17, while Stockton added 10. Jennifer Ingram contributed four, while Kamori Scott, Jessica Hendrix, Sunshine Kelley and Rachael Dougan all had two. Murfreesboro only had one player sink a field goal, Krys Davis. The Wolverettes were perfect from the stripe, netting five shots in five tries. Murfreesboro was two of eight from the line. Prescott opened with a 6-0 lead after one, and pulled to an 18-4 lead by halftime. From there, the Wolverettes were the only one to score as they went up 31-4 after three and didn't allow the Lady Rattlers to score in the second half.
