Lady Jays Drop 2 Games; Blue Jays Lose First

Published Wednesday, November 15, 1995 in the Nevada County Picayune

The home team playing on the home court is supposed to have the advantage, right? Wrong.

On October 20 the Stephens Lady Roadrunners defeated the Lady Blue Jays at Nevada, 48-42. Last week was payback time. Nevada went to Stephens on Thursday and the Lady Jays won it, 67-64. Throw away the book on theories.

The Blue Jays won, 75-62, over the Roadrunners, and the junior Lady Jays won, 47-29, over the Stephens junior girls.

The win moved the Blue Jays to 5-0 for the season. The Lady Jays are now 3-2, the junior Lady Jays are 3-1 and the junior Blue Jays, who have only played one game, are 1-0.

Friday night was a different story. Only the two senior teams went to Caddo Hills; both came back defeated.

The Lady Blue Jays lost, 84-45, while the Blue Jays, who led most of the way, lost, 64-63, at the buzzer in a physical game. However, at the last the Jays just couldn't do what they have been trained to do and Caddo Hills won.

After Friday night the Blue Jays are 5-1 and the Lady Jays are 3-3.

This week the Nevada teams were to have gone to Mt. Holly on Monday and they were to have hosted Genoa Central on Tuesday in the 7A South Conference opener.

Next week they are scheduled to host Prescott on Monday. This game could be canceled since the Curley Wolves are in the Class AA state playoff games in football. Nevada will go to Hope on Tuesday of next week to tangle with the Bobcats.
