Angel Tree Going Up

Published Wednesday, November 15, 1995 in the Nevada County Picayune

Christmas time is fast approaching and the Nevada County Department of Human Services (DHS) is once again sponsoring the Angel Tree for needy children.

This is the third year for this program.

Applications will be taken from November 1 through November 17 this year. To be eligible for the program an application on each child, ages 12 and under, will need to be completed listing the needs and wants of the child.

Eligibility for the program is based on income and expenses, number in the household and need.

With help of the community Christmas was provided for 95 children in 1993 and 105 children in 1994. "Your help was greatly appreciated by the staff of DHS as well as the parents of these children," Twyla Arnett, county administrator of DHS, said. "We are now asking for your assistance for Chrstmas 1995."

Angel trees will be placed around the county beginning November 20. The DHS is requesting that gifts be brought to the Nevada County DHS office by December 11 so that it can get the gifts to the families.

Any donations will be used to buy gifts and food for Angels not picked from the trees.
