Lions Club Auction Set

Prescott Lions Club's 21st annual auction will be held at the Nevada County courthouse on Thursday and Friday, December 7 and 8, at 6:00 p.m.

The Lions Club expressed its appreciation for all the items donated from Prescott merchants and surrounding communities.

With the help of Jim Self as auctioneer last year the club reached its goal of $8,000.

This year's auction will be live on CCT. A person may call in and bid on the telephone as they watch it on TV.

The Prescott Lions Club community service activities from March through August are listed below and were funded by the funds from last year's auction.

The club donated: $225 to sponsor a Little League baseball team; $250 to Nevada County Fair Association for sound system; an item for Lions Mid-South sight auction; and $250 for leadership level to Razorback Council of Boy Scouts of America. It also purchased eyeglasses for three youths, 3, 9 and a 16 years old.

The club donated $500 to Prescott Parks and Recreation for a pavilion; $100 to Nevada County 4-H; $50 to Project Literacy for adult education; $250 to Prescott Shuttle for 37 students to eat breakfast returning from New York City; $1,250 at 50:1 to Lions World Services for the Blind; $100 to Leader Dogs For the Blind; $200 to Visiting Lions Day at Lions World Services for the Blind; and $100 to Campus Crusade for Christ.

The club also operated a concession stand at the Chicken and Egg Festival; donated $540 to Prescott Community Freenet Association for a dedicated phone line for one year to provide toll-free access to the Internet; and presented a $1,000 scholarship to high school senior Traci Hughes.
