OBU Presents Christmas Festival

The Division of Music and the Department of Theatre Arts of the Bernice Young Jones School of Fine Arts at Ouachita Baptist University will present the fourth performance of the Festival of Christmas on Thursday, November 30, and Saturday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m. in OBU's Jones Performing Arts Center.

The Festival of Christmas has played to full houses since its premiere performance in 1992. This year there will be two performances of the popular program in order to accomodate the audiences.

Admission to the program is free, but seating will be assigned on a reserved basis. In order to obtain these free tickets presons should call (501) 245-5129 or write in care of the Jones School of Fine Arts at OBU, P.O. Box 3771, Arkadelphia, Ar 71998-0001. Tickets are now available to the public.

The 150 vocal and instrumental performers will present Christmas favorites, both sacred and secular, ranging from simple carols to the classics.

Groups performing in the concert include the Ouachita Wind Ensemble with Dr. Craig Hamilton conducting; the Ouachita Singers with Dr. Charles Fuller conducting; the Ouachita Sounds with Mrs. Mary Shambarger conducting; the OBU Praise Singers with Mrs. Diana Ellis conducting; and the Ouachita Handbell Ringers with Russell Hodges conducting.

The show will be staged and directed by Scott Holsclaw, chair of the Ouachita department of theatre arts. Technical director for the program will be Eric Phillips.
