Lions Devoured, Gentry Next For Wolves (cont)Published Wednesday, November 22, 1995 in the Nevada County Picayune0. Yates' pass for Cornelius missed and Heath Duke got 2 yards on a delay. Yates then hit Channing Butler with a 28-yard in the end zone. the PAT by Mike Fountain was good and the score was 37-13 with time running out. Marlow got another interception as the Lions once more attempted to move the ball through the air. The game ended with Prescott in control of the ball and winner of the game. Yates completed 8 of his 14 passes for 143 yards. The total yardage for the Wolves was 291 with 148 coming on the ground. The total yardage for Hamburg was 181 with Bornslater getting 97 and Scott picking up 81. Prescott had 17 first downs while Hamburg finished with 10. The Wolves were penalized 6 times for 60 yards. The Lions were penalized 6 times for 65 yards. Prescott had only one turnover; Hamburg had three. As usual, the Big D came through, especially in the last half. With the likes of Stan Koger, Larry Henderson, C.D. Flemons, Sam Marlow, Carlos VanHook, etc. The Wolves looked like state material, and they can't let up. Their opponents will also all be winners at this point and this week is no exception. This week the Wolves will host the Gentry maroon and white Pioneers, winners of the 1AA Conference in the extreme northwest corner of the state (Benton County). In their first game of the playoffs the Pioneers defeated England, 30-0, and last week they took out the seasoned Booneville Bearcats, 21-7. They are tough. But Prescott can be tough, too. This is a challenge that must be met with determination. Prescott can do it by playing heads up, watching for advantages, taking them for a score, or making mistakes happen to the other team. Be at the PHS stadium Friday night for all the action. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
