Chamber Spotlight

by Karen Mitchell The Chamber spotlight is focused on the following events. Mark your calendar and make plans to attend and participate.

November 29: -- The Chamber will hold a Coffee and ribboncutting ceremony to commemorate the grand opening of the Nevada County Recycling and Work Center. Everyone is invited to attend this special occasion. The time is from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., with the ribbon cutting taking place at 10:00. The address is 314 East Second South in the building formerly housing Arkla Gas Company.

November 30: -- The annual membership meeting of the Chamber of Commerce will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Prescott Elementary School cafeteria. We hope you will be present for this meeting.

December 3: -- The First United Methodist Church Choir will present a Christmas Cantata,Sing We Now of Christmas, at 7:00 p.m. The youth group will present a live nativity scene outside the church at 6:30 p.m.. There will be a reception following the cantata.

December 8, Christmas open house -- (4:00 -6:00 p.m.). For the fourth year in a row merchants and business will host an open house, staying open late to allow customers to shop in Prescott after hours.

December 8, Christmas-on-the-Square -- (6:00 - 8:30 p.m.) As open house closes, you can retreat to the courthouse lawn, where an evening of singing enjoyment awaits you. Amid the vast array of Henry's lights you will hear special groups filling the air with Christmas sounds. These special groups include the Prescott School band, Prescott High School Coral Club, Emmet Elementary School group, Presbyterian Preschool Nursery, Nevada County Day Service Center Bright Beginnings Singers, Prescott 4th grade, `I Love Music Club,' Prescott Elementary 2nd grade and Macedonia Baptist Choir. Performance times will be reported next week.

1995 Parade of Homes: -- The Chamber will again sponsor Christmas outdoor decorating contests: one for Nevada County residents and one for city of Prescott residents. The deadline to enter is Friday, December 8. Homes will be judged Saturday evening, December 9. Information, guidelines and registration forms can be obtained at the Chamber of Commerce office, 887-2101.

December 9 and 10: -- The Central Baptist Church Choir will present a Christmas Cantata, Christmas Fantasia, on Saturday, December 9, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 10, at 7:00 p.m.

December 17: -- First Baptist Church will present a Christmas Cantata, Bethlehem's Lights, at 6:30 p.m.
