Commencement Dec. 15Published Wednesday, November 29, 1995 in the Gurdon TimesHenderson State University will confer approximately 260 degrees in the winter commencement ceremony, scheduled Friday, December 15, in Wells HPER Center Gymnasium on the university's campus. Graduating from Gurdon are Elaine Guinn, Glen Hughes and Brandon Stone. Graduating from Gurdon with a master's degree is Melissa Franklin. According to C.B. Watterson, director of public affairs, there will be two ceremonies held. The first ceremony will be at 6:00 p.m. for the School of Education and the School of Business. The second will be at 8:00 p.m. for the Ellis College of Arts and Sciences. For the 6:00 ceremony the faculty charge will be delivered by Dr. Kenneth Harris, chairman and associate professor of Elementary Education, and the student response will be given by Kristi Davis, a senior physical education major. Dr. Todd Wiebers, associate professor of Psychology, will present the faculty charge for the 8:00 ceremony, with Carrie Markel, a senior public administration major from Benton, providing the student response. Music for the event will be provided by Arkansas Brass, which includes members Wess Branstine, James Buckner, Chris Kornegay, John Webb and Jim Woolly. Dr. Robert Houston, vice president of Academic Affairs, deans Dr. Joe C. Wright, Ellis College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Robert Fisher, School of Business; Dr. Charles R. Green, undergraduate and graduate students, respectibely, with their diplomas. Dr. Charles D. Dunn, president of the university, will confer the degrees.
