Nevada's Lady Jays whipped Emerson 55-46 Saturday night to end the 1995 portion of their season.

The Lady Jays opened the contest with a slim 10-9 lead at the end of one, but trailed 35-24 at intermission as the Lady Pirates offense came to life.

However, the Lady Jay defense stiffened in the third as the Nevada squad pulled closer at 39-36. The Lady Jays shut down the Lady 'Bucs in the final eight minutes, outscoring them 19-7 for the win.

Dilesha Easter led the Lady Jays with 12 points, while Tomika Muldrow netted 10. Shonda Young and Alicia Lewis each added nine in the win.

The Nevada squad was 12 of 29 from the stripe.

Kendrall Williamson paced Emerson with 23 points, including a 12 for 17 showing at the line. Gwen Murphy scored 10 in the loss.

Overall, the Lady 'Bucs were 16 of 23 in free throw attempts.

The Lady Jays made it 2-0 during the week as they opened with a 45-36 win over Stamps Dec. 12.

The Nevada offense didn't show up in the first period as the Lady Yellowjackets took a 10-4 lead in the first eight minutes.

However, the Lady Jays began warming up in the second period as they tied the game at 19-19 going into the break. They outscored the Lady 'Jackets 12-11 in the third and shut down Stamps' offense in the final period.

Muldrow provided the spark the Lady Jays needed as she poured in 14 points, including a pair of three- pointers. Shamikia Allen added nine.

The Nevada quintet shot less than 50 percent from the line as they connected on only seven of 19.

The Lady Jays will return to the hardwood Jan. 2, 1996, when they host the Lewisville Lady Red Devils.
