All three Prescott schools have been broken into during the past 10 days.

Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and Prescott Police Department, said the methods of entry were primarily the same in all three cases.

He said the suspect(s) enter the buildings and take cash and coins from the principals' offices. The first incident occurred Tuesday, Jan. 2 at the Prescott High School principal's office, while Prescott Elementary and Prescott Middle School were both hit either late Friday, Jan. 5, or early Saturday, Jan. 6.

In each instance, Westmoreland said, cash and coins were taken. The only school to show signs of forced entry has been at PMS.

Area merchants are advised to be on the look out for anyone attempting to cash in large amounts of change. Westmoreland said merchants who have someone trying to get cash for change in large amounts should call the NCSO at 887-2616.
