A slow first period was all it took for Harmony Grove to build a lead over the Prescott Curley Wolves and hang on for a 50-42 win.

The Hornets opened the Jan. 12 game with a 15-7 first quarter lead, as they hit two treys and three two point shots, along with three of four free throws in the initial eight minutes. The Wolves retaliated with a three and a pair of deuces in the period.

The Wolves found themselves down 26-16 at the break, as they were still cold from the field in the second.

Things didn't improve much in the third period as the Hornets extended their lead to 11 with a 36-26 advantage.

Jason Webb paced the Wolves with 21 points as the only Prescott player to reach double figures. J.R. Matthews and Barrett Yates each canned two three-pointers for their six points.

The Wolves were three of five from the charity stripe in the contest.

Harmony Grove was led by Debarious Haygood's 18. Gary Garcia netted 15 for the Hornets. At the line, the Hornets were seven of 14.

The Wolves locked horns with Gurdon Tuesday night, and were scheduled to play Delight Friday night.
