Pearlie BanksPublished Wednesday, January 17, 1996 in the Nevada County PicayunePearlie Banks, 82, of Prescott died December 28, 1995. Born July 13, 1917. in Bigelow, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Jospeh and Mrs. Luller Oliver Roseburrow. She was a graduate of Conway County Training Senior High, a former member of New Zion A.M.E. Church in Conway during her youth, and was a graduate of Philander Smith College. She pursued her teaching career in the Prescott area. She returned to school and earned a master of education degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and subsequently, doing postgraduate work at St. Augustine College in Raleigh, N.C., Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia and the University of Arkansas. She was the widow of J.B. Banks She was active in civic endeavors after retirement. She was an active member of Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church for 36 years where she served as director of religious education, director of the youth department, steward, stewardess, choir member, benevolent treasurer and program director. She was a member of the Hope Cotillion Club. Survivors include a sister, Elvira Vaughn of Morrilton and a brother, Samuel Roseburrow of Los Angeles, Calif. Services were held Saturday, January 6, at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Prescott with Rev. Arthur L. Coulter officiating.
