Rider Recently Graduated From State Police School
David R. Rider, 32, a native of Gurdon, graduated December 18 from the Arkansas State Police 1998-B Recruit School and was sworn in as a commissioned trooper.

Barbara McKelvey, graduate of Gurdon High School and daughter of Mary Coplen, is the newly elected mayor of Hamburg. McKelvey won with 60 percent of the total vote.
